Short description

About 60 words: sidebars, resource lists

Menu Translator turns a photo of any menu into clear explanations of every dish. It reads printed, handwritten and chalkboard menus in more than 80 languages, shows what is in each dish and how it is cooked, and marks options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other diets. Highlight what you want and show the original names to the waiter. Free to try on iPhone and Android.

Long description

About 130 words: features, press articles

Word-for-word translation fails on menus. Google Translate turns the Spanish dish ropa vieja into “old clothes”. It is shredded beef, slow-cooked with tomatoes, peppers and onions.

Menu Translator explains dishes instead of translating words. Take a photo of a menu, printed, handwritten or chalked on a board, and the app lists every dish in your language: what it is, what is in it, and how it is prepared. Filters show vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, gluten-free and lactose-free options. You can see photos of dishes, hear how to pronounce them, and long-press the dishes you want, so the waiter sees the original names on your screen.

Menu Translator reads menus in more than 80 languages. It is free to try on iPhone and Android.
